How can I use Avvy Domains?

Different users have different needs. Here's a breakdown of the different ways that Avvy Domains can be used.

Registering a Domain

First, we have to address the simple case of registration. .avax names are ERC721 NFTs. When you register a domain, it can be controlled by your wallet. Some users, such as NFT collectors, may simply want to register domains.

For more details, see the section on Registrations, as well as the document cover Transfers & NFT Exchanges.

Resolution

The primary use for your .avax name is to help you remember complicated bits of information. A well-known example is to simplify the process of remembering a wallet address.

A wallet address (for example 0xB31f66AA3C1e785363F0875A1B74E27b85FD66c7) is very difficult to remember. With Avvy, you can create a .avax name which points to your wallet address, simplifying the process of sharing data. This is known as Forward Resolution.

The opposite operation, known as Reverse Resolution, is also possible. For example, if you are playing a GameFi game, you are likely identified by your wallet address. You can enable reverse resolution to allow users to find your .avax domain using your wallet address. With your .avax domain, the game can pull more information such as an avatar.

Wallet addresses are one of many types of data points that can be resolved using Avvy Domains. For more details, read about Resolution.
